I think these are just a few comments I received when I mentioned I was taking the kids to the San Antonio Zoo last Tuesday. O.k. I did think I was crazy as well but we needed to get out of the house. So the kids including Natalie took off early in the morning so we could leave the zoo early enough for me to get home and get ready for work.

Since we were allowed to bring a cooler inside the zoo we brought in our lunch. Here is a picture of Nichole and Natalie during lunch time:
Talk about some smart goats! Here is a picture of Emily brushing a goat as it tried to get some food out of the dispenser. The goats notices if a little kids leaves a quarter in the dispenser and quickly taps the knob so it turns. Then quickly eats the food before other goats see he is eating without them.
Even though it was a long day and I was outnumbered we all had a great time. There was no temper tantrums, no whining or anything to make me regret planning this trip. The zoo was a nice zoo with many interesting exhibits and animals to keep the kids interested.
After a long day, they all needed a nap on the way home, too bad I was driving I could of joined them! ( Nichole took the picture, remember I am driving!)

My goal for landscaping our backyard is to get as many things as I can for free or close to free. There are online groups such as Craigslist and Freecycle that I check often for things to use in our backyard.
Here we see a big boxful of canna bulbs and off to the side a stack of flagstone, all for free!
For Christmas we asked for gift cards from Sears, we were suppose to get a treadmill but we got something else instead. Here is a picture of our new toy for the backyard. Under the thin layer of soil you hit a layer of clay so you need something stronger to do the digging for you. Dont think this is an easy way out of using the shovel, that thing is heavy and it is hard to control! So you still get a muscle pain induced workout.
I will search for some pictures of the backyard when we first seen this house. Then take some pictures of what it looks like now. Then as we continue to work on the backyard I will post some updates so you all could see how we are killing ourselves.

Today Rob and I took the kids roller skating. I thought we all would have a good time as this was one of my favorite things to do when I was younger. Here are some pictures of the family roller skating.

Here is what Nichole and Andrew did for most of the time:

Then it was time to play a game, Red Light Green Light. The object of the game is to go to the back wall and follow directions to get to the other side the quickest to win a prize. In these two pictures Andrew and Nichole are NOT winning, everyone is waiting for them to get out of the way. Notice all the people on the back wall? Nichole and Andrew had no choice to exit the rink without the assistance of the wall, very very slowly!
I am almost off the floor!
Now for the last picture first we have Andrew tending to his wounded elbow after a fall. Next we haveNichole wondering how she could skate better next time, and last Em who cant wait to go again.
I think the best thing about this return to our past, despite our age we feel great. Usually when you get older and you “think” you could do the things you did in the past you end up paying for it later. No Advil for Rob and I tonight!! 🙂

When Natalie was only six weeks old I started to care for her Mondays through Wednesdays. I think I get the best deal, I get to enjoy all the firsts and many cute moments. If she is in a bad mood, I just hand her over to her own mom to deal with it.
On Monday she turned one and her parents celebrated the day before. Here are some pictures of her big day.

When you are doing a science fair project about mold, it doesnt grow at all. Andrew chose his project to be about bread mold. We get the bread all ready and place it in different areas and look every day to see if and when mold starts to grow. We waited and waited and the bread has yet to grow mold. So we had to change the project a bit after finding moldy wheat bread in the pantry. The wheat bread was bought after the white bread. So he compared the two and figured out that the white has a preservative in it to help slow the growth of mold. The wheat didnt have this particular preservative, so the mold grew on that one first. I wonder what we will be doing next year, so many choices. Just as long as it isnt about farts, I will be o.k.

For over a year I have been on sleep mode after working the graveyard shift at Starbucks. Starting this monday we will no longer be open 24 hours. That means, I am off at 1am!!! I am so excited to be able to go home “early” and catch up on some much needed sleep.

Or maybe not????
Here we see the future hair stylist in action. For a while now she has asked daddy to cut her hair because she couldnt see. She is very impatient and decided well if he isnt going to do it, maybe I can. I thought she was on the computer and wondered after a bit why I wasnt hearing the tip tapping of keys or a squeal of excitement after winning a game. I found out why…..

Here we could see the results of the attack. Notice the long hair over her shoulders..
Notice the hair now… Boo Hoo. I guess it is time to take her in to get a bob hair cut, I am no hair stylist.
