I think Rob is the only person at his work that brings in his own birthday cake. Everyone there knows this so they let him and don’t order one from the store.
One more year and he will be forty,pretty crazy. Many times he is whining that he feels old as he limps around. I have to remind him he just ran over five miles!

The first graders are studying water right now. Where does water comes from, where does it go, and it’s actions. What was funny is the trip was suppose to be on a Friday but guess what, it got rained out. So they relearned ( they all know about rain) where the water came from.
So on nice sunny Tuesday the kids I would say about 80-100 of them walked to the nearby park so they could observe the creek running through it. The kids got many stares, not by how many kids were walking by but what some of them were wearing. It was red ribbon week last week and it was crazy hair, clothes,socks or shoe day.
Get out your science journals and observe the water. Is it going fast? Slow? What color is it? Where do you think it is going?
On the way back to the school we let the kids cross to the other side of the street. There was a huge pile of dried fall leaves waiting for little kids to crunch their little feet through. They loved it and the adults loved watching the fun.

This one annoys me so much! Why? Cause it sticks in my head EVERY time I hear it. Andrew loves to randomly play it when he knows I need a little reminder. Grrr

Finally a night that I had off so I could see Andrew play his trumpet. I heard him practicing many times but not perform with the band for a while. The honor band was to provide the music for this home game.
After seeing the little girls do some cheerleading with the older girls Em really wanted to be cheerleader. I think she has forgotten all about it by now.
The trumpeters playing with the band, see Andrew??
During one part the band put down their instruments and started to dance. This kid really enjoyed dancing, Andrew just turned around in circles.
Time for the chicken dance!

The sun went down in the horizon,
the cheerleaders did their cheer
the band played some tunes
the boys high fived the other team …………..then the game was over.
This momma was glad that her little boy plays the trumpet. Much safer.

While Rob drove up to Wichita Kansas for his 20th High School Reunion the kids and I kept busy.
Since this place was walking distance from the house the kids and decided to walk down to check out the festival.
Andrew was very brave when he was helping his younger sister build something, with a hammer! Home Depot had an area where the little kids could build different things.
They had different performances:
A Chinese Dragon
Austin Torros for some kind of sport. I am unsure, hey it is sports what do you expect.
The middle school drum line:
Uh excuse me, I was taking pictures here first. This lady was from a local newspaper and she and I kept on getting in each other’s way.
They had various displays from the Life Flight helicopter, a fire engine and a cow from Chick-A-Filet

I had a night off a few weeks ago and Em and I decided to enjoy the nice evening and try out a new path. The city expanded a trail pathway so we decided to check it out and see where it led us. Yup, my camera tagged along.
Do you know how hard it is to take a picture of your feet with the playground in the background while swinging??

Yeah, it was a nice night for a walk.

The school band held a spaghetti dinner fundraiser, I had to work so Rob took Emily to go watch Andrew play his trumpet.
Even though these pictures don’t have sound I only wanted to post them for one reason. Why you ask? To make fun of my husbands picture taking skills. Yup, that was the only reason.

Every Labor Day weekend there is a family reunion on my mom’s side of the family. Even though I have been to many of them I am still amazed that some how, some way I am related to most of the people that are here. When you see or hear about other family reunions, they are NEVER as big as this one.
It goes back to a great great grandparent I believe and at the reunion their descendants are the ones that attend.
These daughters and mom attended their first reunion from Ohio I believe. They gave out some candy bars to other family members with their family stats. It was a great idea to get you to mingle with other families and get to know them a bit better.
Cousins who never met each other before watched a movie together, helped with the lunch and other areas, talked to each other and sharing a bit of family history with each other. That is the best part of the reunion if you ask me.
Another thing I love about our reunions, is how we honor those who have served/are still serving in our armed services.
We start off with a flag salute from a local school ROTC honor guard. We ask all those who have served, still serving or someone who represents this family member to come forward. We as a family give these men and woman a small token of thanks.
We raise funds through the night by a raffle and silent auction. My cheap $7.00 donation raised over $40.00! Not bad. Now I have suggestions for other team sports for the next reunion.
Eleven years ago I came up with an idea of raffling off a table cloth with all the little kids handprints all over it. Here we have the older two kids putting their hands next to their handprints.
This was the first year we had a talent show, everyone was winners. They all performed really well and I hope this part continues next year. I think everyone was shy and may want to show off next year, we will see.
My cousin Cecelia’s violin, for a beginner she was awesome. It will be fun to see her perform again and see how she progresses.
She wasn’t the only violinist, this uh”cousin” played a beautiful song.
Then we had a couple of singers. Yup that is Nichole you are seeing!
The last one even had groupies….
What made this family reunion different than any other. The band we had playing that night were from my grandmother’s side of the family, the Romos. So I had both of my grandparents represented here!

This year only two of my children got up early for the first day of school. Sure was nice only getting the supplies for two kids instead of three. I think this is the only day in the school year where kids are excited to get up early and on their own. So much excitement built up to see who their teachers are and to see friends they only see at school.
This year Andrew started seventh grade and Emily started first grade. Every year I make sure to take the kids picture before they leave out the door. It is neat to see how much they change throughout the year.
Emily was all smiles when I took her to her classroom, then quickly I was dismissed. Who needs a mom standing in the background taking pictures all day long. I think Andrew is grateful I didn’t walk him to his class, what do you think? At least with a first grader I could still get away with it.
