May 30th is Andrew’s birthday, see I am so far behind on this blog. Trying to catch up on it when I can, with work it is difficult to do somtimes.
We usually just do a cake at home and go out to dinner to celebrate birthdays. This year Andrew asked if he could actually have a birthday party, some where besides home. He has been doing great in school, and well it was long due for him to have a party.
We went to a place called Main Event to celebrate with a game of laser tag with a few of his good friends.
Since it was a laser tag game that was to be played he chose to have a laser tag themed cake. The black and red thing is the jacket they wear when playing. I had used red gel so the lines are not blood lines they are suppose to be lasers.
I have no pictures taken of everyone playing laser tag, Emily was too little to play so she got to play mini golf. They had great paitings on the walls:
After the laser tag game and mini golf it was time for pizza:
then the cake:
Once the pizza and cake were eaten it was time to play some games!
The girls decided to compete each other with a game of Dance Revolution:
Andrew and one of his friends on a roller coaster type of thing. You set there and watch a screen of a roller coaster and the seat moves with what you see on the screen. His friend didnt care too much for this:

Nichole tried to teach Emily how to play skee ball, I dont think Emily understood you had to ROLL the ball not throw it. See the ball floating through the air??
Andrew was talked in to going on this ride that is another roller coaster type of thing. Only thing is it is enclosed and while you watch the screen the machine goes side ways and upside down. You could hear screaming coming out of it and he claims it wasnt him.
Now for this last picture, all I was told is they are only girls that are his friends. Nothing more.

When I was a teenager I had straight hair, oh how I hated my straight hair. I tried many times to perm it, sometimes getting the poodle look down a bit to perfectly. I had long hair and sometimes I would torture myself for 3 hours each time to get my hair permed.
Lets fast forward time a bit, to say 2009. History repeats itself, sort of. Nichole has pretty curly hair, and guess what she wants? You got it, straight hair!
Finally she went in to cut her hair into a style that looks better straightened. Here is a recent picture of Nichole with her new look.
It looks great but I dont care too much for it. It makes her look so much older!!! 🙂

Here is the latest fashion in the Duncan Household, what every little girl needs. My cousin Melissa gave us some clothes that no longer fit her daughter Cecilia. Out of many outfits, basic dress up shoes, dresses this is the winner.
PINK BOOTS!!
They are a bit to big, but to Emily that only means they will last longer before she outgrows them.

April 25th was another early morning where I was dragged downtown Austin this time the whole family came along. We were entered into the Texas Roundup, Rob ran the 10k while the whole family did the family mile. Here are some excited runners:

For the runs they had the longer distances go first, the 10K and the 5K, the kids and I had to wait a while to start the Family Mile. We spent our time doing this, try not to this this is a homeless person:

Finally the longer races were over and it was time for the family mile. I was going to die, me run a mile who are we kidding. I was saved as it turned out to be a walk lasting all of one block, if that! Whew. We did have one runner though:

Six hours later, Emily is still excited about her medal. She cant wait to run longer with daddy!

Over the last few months there has been a few runs in Austin that have caused me to wake up early once again. As the official family photogragher I had no choice to go, so off we went to Down Town Austin to document the runs.
Rob ran the Austin Cap 10K and he did very well.
They did this wide circle and I had to walk quite a ways to get to where the end of the race was. Maybe if I didnt stop here on the way to the finish line I would of seen Rob cross it.
Hey, remember we left early in the morning, I needed my coffee!
When I did get to the finish line I did see this guy finish…
See, now you know why I picked the title for this post. It is interesting to see people dress up for some of these runs. It is hot and sweaty enough to just run them but to dress up in costumes. Each to their own I guess.

Four days off to relax, take bubble baths, sleep till noon, eat out for every meal… oh who am I kidding. I spent a lot of time catching up on much needed cleaning. Then there is this, the blog who I tossed aside. So I cleaned up a bit here, then turned my attention to the blog for a bit. Trying to get the many pictures resized took a bit of time, not to mention the many new ones I took over the weekend.
Over the next few days, heck it may be weeks till the last posts runs out you will see what we have been up to for the last few months.
Since today is Father’s Day I will also like to wish all the Fathers a Happy Fathers Day! Hope you all had a great day!

Every now and then I make a huge mess and out of that mess I create. The creation is made, given away or eaten. The mess on the other hand, well that takes longer to take care of.
Here we have some crochet:
My BIL Mike asked Rob to get some baby clothes with the UT theme for some friends of his up in WA were big fans. I got out my crochet hooks and made the new baby girl a hat.
A co-worker just had a baby boy so I made him a little blanket:

Last but not least here is a baby shower cake I made for the youth pastor’s wife. Everything was edible, yes even the little baby. Dont know who would want to eat it though.

On April 17th Nichole turned 18. When you are going through the baby stages, the potty training, the milestones you think that time is going slowly. Then all of the sudden your baby is turning 18.
Nichole got a big surprise, my inlaws Mike and Linda came to visit for her birthday. They brought along cousin Brittany as the surprise.
You can tell she was surprised, right? It isnt a fake espression, right? She sure is an actress. 🙂
When she woke up she was able to see her birthday wishes from friends and family. Thank you so much for helping out on this idea, she loved it. Some of you wrote words of wisdom they were enspiring to say the least.
Nichole has a huge interest in the Japanese culture. For dinner grandpa and grandma took us out to the Tokyo Steak House to celebrate her birthday. The chef was great and entertaining us while he cooked our food.
He started to toss food to feed the animals in our table, Nichole is trying to catch part of her meal. I think she got it once?
Nichole enjoyed her birthday dinner, Thank you Grandpa and Grandma! If you look closely you could see Em off to the side signing the letter L. For the older ones reading this, it means loser. I think her big brother is teaching how to torment her big sister really well.
Time to head home for cake and gifts. I usually let the kids pick what kind of cake they want for their birthday. A while back while I was reading different blogs online I came across this cake. It was back in February and it was noticed by Nichole. I was hoping that she would forget all about it. The original only had ten, Nicholes cake had 14. Huh, what am I talking about? Layers of cake! They are baked really then and stacked together. Going with the Japanese theme again I made a branch with cherry blossoms for her cake. Here is a good view of the inside and outside.
Well there you have it, again thanks to all who helped with the birthday wishes. She had over 62 (that was my last count) messages up on the wall. It was great!

On Monday Nichole became the proud mother to baby Isabella Faith. She poured over the many baby name choices and finally picked her baby’s name. She asked a neighbor to borrow some baby clothes so her baby would be clothed. Here we have the picture of the proud mommy and baby Isabella:
Here are some lessons for anyone considering having a baby or if you have kids this will provide a good laugh.
When you baby starts to cry, check it’s diaper. Make sure to leave the baby outfit on when you change your baby. Once you have the outfit open pull out the dirty diaper and cram the clean diaper between the baby’s legs. It works, here is proof:
If you have already changed it’s diaper maybe your baby is hungry. Make sure your baby is lying down and hold the bottle standing up. This will help the baby from getting gas?? Not sure of the real reason why, I am just guessing.
If you are going to start crying from hunger maybe you could share the bottle with your baby, uh you may want to make sure there is a nipple on the bottom of that bottle before trying this.
It seems to take forever to feed a baby if you stare at the clock the whole time you are feeding the baby. I suggest you dont try it, especially at night.
The second day after you have the baby I know you will be tired, I have been there so I know. Please change into fresh clothes and not wear the same clothes you were wearing the first day you brought baby home. This picture was day 2, same clothes.
Here is what you could look like after the first night of no sleep, still tired but able to do your hair in easy braids.

Soon after this picture was taken Baby Isabella lost her name and became “The Thing!” Nichole was more than happy to return The Thing back to her parenting class to soon torture another classmate. I wonder if I go upstairs tonight and make a fake baby cry if she will respond. Hmmm…
